Approach

Near town of Mildon. The resurgence is on the side of a valley (right bank of the Rio Cares) and is 100m behind the taverna (1985)

Entrance

Resurgence

Description

The cave is formed by a succession of sumps and passages traversing the underground river. The upstream end finishes at an impassable boulder.

Five sumps in total (1985) (90m, 40m, 6m, 78m and 135m), all about -6m depth, except the last which is -20m (not surveyed).

This last one ends with an aven (possible air at the top). The stream emerges between two blocks, which is impossible to climb. The sumps are large and rectangular (except sump 1 which is narrow and elliptcal),

Sump 1 can be avoided by a fossil passage which can be entered close to the resurgence.
