CO-ORDINATES: 30 T X:0360022 Y: 4788300
ALTITUDE: 1309m
LENGTH: 250m
DEPTH: -150m

LOCATION:

From the head of the Sobra Valley follow the track towards Sotres. After the narrow pass there is a T-junction and the right hand track is taken. Shortly after this more level ground is encountered and the track passes through a shallow grassy depression. To the right and left of the track are large steep sided do lines. C29 is marked on the small cliff above the entrance to the cave, just 30m to the left of the track. A small stream sinks further back up the dry valley, in which the entrance is situated.

ENTRANCE:

The entrance was excavated and is a small hole between boulders in the rock face.

DESCRIPTION:

Once through the entrance squeeze, there is a 2m climb down into a small chamber. A low passage leads off and the mud floor had initially to be dug out to enable further progress. Muddy crawling leads to a high narrow trench passage and the top of the first pitch. Loose boulders necessitated the use of a wedged beam at the take off for this pitch. At 5m down there is a narrow ledge and a further 11m pitch in a large shaft. A climb and 4m pitch over a jammed boulder leads via a stooping passage to a junction. A climb to the right, down a hading fault formed rift, leads to a massive shaft. 23m down a clean wall lands upon a spacious ledge. (No belay points). The shaft continues with an awkward take off to a fine free-hanging abseil of 50m.
The passage, now more roomy, continues through various pools to a climb and a further pitch with an awkward take off. Unfortunately, the continuation becomes wet and low, soon sumping.

This cave is more typical of Yorkshire than Spain, but makes an excellent days caving. If it drains towards Sotres and Tielve it has 500m of depth potential. Towards Tresviso it has considerably more.
